Art Forms in Nature

Art Forms in Nature -  I am holdfast. I am flow

A playful sensory experience that explores the natural drift of seaweeds held fast in a creative flow

When: 21st September, 9am to 4pm

Where: Millers Point beach and Cape Point Mountain Getaway - Biodiversity and Mindfulness Centre.

We begin at Millers Point to be lead on a sensory foraging experience explaining the properties of the seaweeds and how they are used as a source for food.

Our artist and guide, Ros Stockhall, will discuss the form, colour and aesthetic quality of seaweed and how this can be used as a point of creative exploration. Using a mindful approach as we tread lightly to gather samples of our seaweed resource, proceeding to create colour swatches of our subjects, and play with expressive line drawing.

We proceed to the Ros Bean Biodiversity & Mindfulness Centre (BAM), where we will enjoy a seaweed-inspired lunch.  Then we proceed with a study of our seaweed subject, creating a botanical illustration with colour layering. The day ends with tea and a delicate treat as we meet as a group and reflect upon our creative making journey.
